As energy companies move beyond digitization and into digital transformation, Pepper Energy Partners is evolving too. We’re not just organizing land files, we’re helping clients extract insights from them. Our document governance work now supports strategic data analysis, making land departments more agile, auditable, and acquisition-ready
Pepper recently led a comprehensive digital clean-up initiative targeting high-volume legacy environments, where overlapping file structures, inconsistent naming conventions, and buried agreements made even basic file retrieval a challenge from within Quorum On Demand Land (ODL).
Our approach included:
- Automated Document Consolidation: Developed scripts to intelligently merge individual PDFs within agreement folders into unified documents, automatically named after the parent directory for improved structure and accessibility.
- Quorum ODL-Ready Directory Mapping: Created export scripts that captured directory structures and file paths, embedding hyperlinks to enable efficient integration and navigation within ODL.
- Legacy File Renaming & Refiling : Engineered custom scripts to rename legacy files using a proprietary in-house numbering system and systematically refile them according to the acquiring company’s internal taxonomy and folder structure.
- Recursive Folder Clean-Up: Built and deployed scripts to identify and flag empty directories recursively across target drives, followed by approved automated removal to optimize storage and eliminate digital clutter.
The result wasn’t just cleaner files. It was strategic data access to land and lease files that inform M&A and mitigate leasehold risks. With digitized, consistently named, and ODL-mapped records, our client’s land team can now search, access, and analyze lease data faster than ever. That means fewer bottlenecks, better decisions, and a stronger foundation for acquiring acreage and meeting obligations to owners.
